Our last event of 2012 is another in a place that’s starting to become a bit of a second home for us. Tomorrow night (Tuesday 18th December) we’re heading back north of the border for a meet the brewer and perhaps our largest tap takeover to date at the brand new Edinburgh beer destination The Hanging Bat.
The ‘Bat’ as its no doubt already known, is the brainchild of Chris Mair one half of our excellent Scottish distributors Craft Centric. The bar located on the Lothian Road in central Edinburgh has already been receiving great reviews and with the brewery contacts and supply lines Craft Centric have managed to garner in their first year will no doubt ensure the bar remains a ‘must visit’ for beer fans in the Scottish capital
The event tomorrow night compromises a meet the brewer and a full tap takeover of the bar’s combined 20 cask and keg lines. Fortunately we’ve managed to muster 20 draught beers (some duplicated in both formats) as well as some of our new bottles for you all to taste. We’re also bringing pretty much every one of this years barrel aged projects, which are now all gone. This will certainly be the largest quantity of beers we’ve had on in one location to date, the full list of beers looks like this:
Cask: Curious, Curious NZ, Rapture, The Great Alphonso, High Wire, Dark Arts, Magic 8 Ball
Keg: Curious NZ, Rapture, High Wire, The Great Alphonso, Dark Arts, Rock Star, Magic 8 Ball, The Big Top, Human Cannonball, Bearded Lady
Barrel Aged Keg: Dark Arts Red Wine, Dark Arts Sherry, Cannonball Tequila Barrel, Clown Juice Tequila Brett Barrel, Magic 8 Ball Chardonnay Brett Barrel,
As well as a modern beer lovers paradise the bar also has its own 50 litre Sabco ‘brew magic’ pilot kit and the bar will be producing one off specials throughout the year to be drunk on the premises. With this in mind the guys are asking visiting breweries to devise beers to be brewed on the kit and we’ve decided to brew a recipe we thought would be a good seasonal beer. We’re brewing a rich smoked stout featuring lots of lovely speciality malts which we’ll be calling ‘Smoke and Mirrors’.
We’re really looking forward to seeing the bar, and hope you’ll come down and join us. Unfortunately the tickets for the limited no. ‘meet the brewer’ part of the evening are sold out but all the beers will be on all evening in the main bar so please come down and let us know what you think. ‘Smoke and Mirrors’ will be brewed this week and available in the bar in the coming weeks.SHARE THIS
